Why you appear in 0% of AI answers (and the fastest fix)
Almost every brand starts at near-zero AEO visibility. The path from 0% to first signs of life is well-trodden. Here's the playbook.

When you run your first AEO scan, the most common result is 0% visibility. This is not a bug. It's the starting state for ~85% of brands we measure. The good news: getting from 0% to 10–15% in 30 days is well-trodden territory.
Why you're at 0%
Three reasons, almost always in this order:
- You're not in the canonical listicle for your category. If buyers ask ChatGPT "best [your category]" and there's a top Forbes Advisor or TechRadar listicle, ChatGPT pulls from that. If you're not in it, you're not in the answer.
- You don't have comparison pages. "X vs Y" pages on competitor sites win the comparison queries because they're the only ones that exist.
- You're not on the directories LLMs cite. G2, Capterra, niche directories for your space.
The 30-day fastest-fix playbook
Week 1 — Foundations
- Add FAQPage schema to your homepage (5 Q&As minimum, written like buyer questions).
- Submit listings to 3 category directories.
- Ship llms.txt.
Week 2 — Comparison pages
- Write 3 comparison pages: "You vs Top Competitor A," "You vs B," "You vs C." Honest, specific. FAQ schema on each.
Week 3 — Listicle outreach
- Find the 3 most-cited listicles in your category. Email each author with a specific differentiator. Don't pitch generic "we're great" copy.
Week 4 — Re-measure and prioritize
- Run a re-scan. Expect 5–15% visibility, mostly from the comparison pages ranking and the new directory listings being picked up.
- Look at the new fix list and prioritize whichever single query has the highest "lift" tag.
What not to do
- Don't try to chase 50 queries at once. Focus on the 10 highest-intent for your funnel.
- Don't try to outrank Forbes. Try to get into Forbes.
- Don't write generic "blog content" hoping LLMs find it. They mostly won't.
